Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough
Fancy a five-star exercise in culinary decadence? Head to The Lanesborough for afternoon tea. Itchy began with champers, progressed on to dinky sandwiches, graduated with Marie Antoinette-inspired cakes and, (just to ensure our stomach lining was irrevocably stretched) finished things off with scones and tea cakes. And clotted cream. The only disappointment was an idiot in flip flops. There are dozens of hand-picked teas – we loved Rose of the Orient, and the Tea Sommelier (England's first ever) gave us some leaves in a plastic bag. This was difficult to explain when our bags got searched at a club later. Liz McMahon http://www.lizzymc.blogspot.com/
