Bistroteque
The décor might be ice-queen cool but Bistrotheque is hot as the Hackney hipsters lapping it up. We took our seats in the airy, upstairs dining room while a gay beer festival throbbed in the bar below. Fellow diners like their jeans straight and their nights out wild – hence the regular cabaret nights. Service is low-key but attentive, and the menu doesn't disappoint. Seafood dishes (bass, sole, trout, mussels) are perfectly cooked and raw food fans will love the oysters and steak tartare. During the week, three courses go for £17.50. We say: get thee to Hackney.
