Sarastro
Dine in this gloriously kitsch operatic extravaganza in the heart of Theatreland and you'll be chatting about the décor all evening. Your eyes take time to adjust to the gaudy, verging on tacky opera–house theme: faux–gilded balconies; a bizarre assortment of theatrical bric–a–brac and murals of reclining nudes in the loo, but amicable staff and live opera on Sundays and Mondays make for a surreal yet enjoyable experience. The slightly bland Mediterranean/Turkish cuisine doesn't stop the thespy–types but all in all Sarastro offers more of a visual feast than a culinary one.
