The Palm Tree
Standing proud at the top of Mile End park, the Palm Tree is one of the few remaining East End pubs that hasn't been absorbed by the scum-magnet 'two meals for a fiver' brewery. It's a great place to step back to a time before blonde wood and Ikea. It's very much a local pub for the locals, with darts flying freely through the air like the feathery dreams of small-claims insurers. Weekends mean a jolly bit of jazz and there's always the possibility of a croon-along if the mood arises.
