As a general rule, a night at a YMCA hostel is like being in hospital, without the drip and foxy nurses. Expect minimal character, lacklustre staff and nostril-stinging wafts of bleach from the bogs. But, if you're a trio of Dutch gap-year students hoping to shop in Camden by day and hit Turnmills by night, this budget option will be a welcome breath of cleanliness and sanity. And even though it's run by a Christian organization, the staff sweetly refrain from glaring at the Italian stag parties rolling in from Fabric at 7am.
