Oak, The

A gastro-pub which is much more gastro than pub. Infact, if you dare to say you don't want food, the waiters look at you as though you've just told them you're a road sweeper and your ambition is to go on Family Fortunes. That aside, The Oak is a nice addition to the posey-but-nice-food Westbourne and low-key-and-nice-food Cow just up the road with its intimidating-but-nice-food feel. A huge dark-brown corner building with subdued lighting, the food is a mix of pizzas from a wood-burning oven and ever changing Itali/Brit indulgences and is very good indeed. Just you make sure you eat it, ok?
