Once one of those 'little place I know' deals now sporting decidedly non-exclusive banner-style signage. Don't let this put you off – to create somewhere cool, arty and unknown in Hoxton these days they'd have to locate some sort of damp, rat infested underground tunnel and only let people come in if they bring a giraffe – Mother Bar still has what it takes. On any given night of the week this is the only place round here that's guaranteed full to bursting – Brazilian students will be dancing alongside Alexander McQueen and the DJ will be playing Joan Jett's I love Rock 'n' Roll.
