Fun times at Fag Tag

Fag Tag promised to be different. Fag Tag promised to be fun. Fag Tag promised to be full of laid back, friendly people who just fancied a bit of a drink on a Sunday afternoon. And you know what? Fag Tag was telling the truth.

Fresh from the shores of Sydney, where Fag Tag has been running for four years, this Sunday afternoon get together was the brainchild of DJ Terry Vietheer and his partner Andy Harb, who saw the potential for a fabulous yet free monthly party, in different locations across the city.

The location is important, as Team Fag spend months sniffing out the coolest bars and clubs that are usually overrun with the breeder brigade, then Tagging them for just one afternoon.

Not that the breeders aren't still welcome, in fact everyone is welcome, and this is probably the strongest feature of Fag Tag. If you've ever walked into a 'laid back and friendly' gay party only to be looked up and down by a bunch of silly queens who visually toss you to one side (while bitching that your jeans are one skin too skinny or your shirt one check too checked), you'll know what we mean. But with Fag Tag, you'll lost count of the number of times you meet someone who is so bloody lovely that it almost bloody hurts.

While initial introductions were being driven by the hosts, people quickly learn the score, and were soon twittering away to any odd stranger about any old thing. If you're suffering from a Sunday afternoon head crisis and want to slip off into the corner to be a bit anti-social, you'll find this is impossible. The almost kid-like excitement of being in this beautiful, never seen before venue, surrounded by beautiful, never seen before people, means that sitting and skulking is out, and mingling is in.
