Never in a Month of Sundays

Let's be honest: Sundays used to be rubbish. They were spent regretting Saturday night and dreading Monday morning. But Sundays finally seems to have got their act together, and now there's a Sunday out there for everyone...

The Sunday... after a big Saturday night out

You're convinced it's not a hangover, it's acute meningitis. Aww, let Itchy take care of you, soldier. We're big believers in the recuperative properties of Vietnamese food, so drag your sorry ass to the Huong-Viet (12-14 Englefield Rd, N1) in time for the £6 set lunch. Next, while you might be tempted to head for the multiplex, get yourself to the French Institute (www.institut-francais.org.uk, 17 Queensberry Place, SW7 2DT ) where Cine Luminaire are screening French classics every Sunday afternoon throughout the summer. Trust us, French films make you feel clever and cultured, and you need smugness. Last up, you might not be capable of razor-sharp wit, so find someone who is. The Brixton Comedy Club every Sunday at the Dogstar (389 Coldharbour Lane, SW9 8LQ) is a reliable side-splitter. london sundays

The Sunday... after a dull Saturday night in

Ever woken up with the feeling you've missed something? Like the drinking, dancing, fun bit of the weekend? It's not too late to join the party. Brick Lane's Vibe Bar (www.vibe-bar.co.uk) opens at 11am and unwashed partiers from the night before mix happily with fresh blood like yourself. With live music, barbecues and and endless parade of hipsters, you'll happily wile away the hours until the fun can get serious. Our new favourite way to trash a Monday is the fortnightly Go Bang, at East Village(www.eastvillageclub.com, 89 Great Eastern Street, EC2A 3HX). This is the fun end of techno, with punk, indie and disco flavours spicing up the grinding bass and pounding beats. Out past your bedtime? Don't worry. It's a crap job anyway.

The Sunday... after a successful date

Oh my God, the pretty person you were kissing last night is still here! You ain't taking this prize fish to no greasy spoon. No, you're the sort of adventurous soul who prefers Sunday dim sum at the New World (1 Gerrard Place, W1D 5PA) in Chinatown. Simply pick what you fancy from the trolleys wheeled by, and pretend you do this all the time. Then it's time for a ro-man-tic stroll through the park until you get to Hyde Park Stables (www.hydeparkstables.com). Hell yeah, you are straight out of their Jane Austen dreams. Afterwards, let's steam away those aches and pains, baby. It's couples' day at the Porchester Spa (Queensway, W2 5HS) and you want to see them naked again.
